This Buddha in reclining position is called Nirvana Buddha. Buddha was originally born as a prince and before giving him birth his mother dreamed of a white elephant which is considered a good luck omen. Lord Buddha was initially named as Siddharth which means one who has accomplished aim successfully and is prosperous, and later came to be known as Gautama Buddha or the enlightened one.
