Lord Krishna is one of the most famous Hindu mythological characters. He is said to be the incarnation of swayam Lord Vishnu, who is one of the Tridevs and also known as palan karta. Lord Vishnu takes various forms in order to establish dharma and help out his needy believers.
This statue describes the ferocious, brave and courageous nature of lord Krishna when it comes up to saving his believers. He is dancing in rage over the seven headed serpent named Kaliya who had contaminated the river Yamuna and was troubling the villagers. Lord Krishna defeated him and saved the Gokul-dham once again like the several other times. This scene is named as “kaliya-dalana”, which means defeating the snake Kaliya.
